Why brass/bronze jewelry turn your skin green?

It's known as the oxidation reaction. The brass or other base metal reacts with oxygen in the air, your sweat and skin oils creating a green layer of brass carbonate on your skin. Relax; it shouldn't be anything to be concerned about. Most likely you're not allergic to the brass, very few people are. Simply keep your brass clean and dry and remove any oil or sweat which may be on your jewelry.

Keeping your jewelry clean will help in the prevention of oxidation turning your skin green. Take off your brass jewelry every night. Wipe your jewelry with a clean soft cloth when you remove it. Doing this will clean any body oils or sweat off your jewelry. The cleaner you keep your brass jewelry the less likely your skin will discolor from oxidation.

925 Sterling Silver Care

Our 925 sterling silver pieces are made to age with character. Silver naturally oxidizes over time; regular wear and gentle polishing help maintain its luster. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, moisture, perfumes, and lotions, and remove jewelry before bathing or swimming.

Clean with a soft cloth or silver polishing cloth as needed, and store in a dry, airtight pouch when not in use to slow tarnishing.

Please note, we process orders within 24 hours of receipt, so changes or cancellations may not always be possible.

As all of our pieces are handmade to order, we recommend confirming your ring size before placing an order. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to assist! Items can be exchanged or returned for store credit within 14 days. All returns must be in their original condition and packaging, without damage.
